ABOUT THE DESIGN

ABOUT THE KIT

Set in the mid-21st Century, Gerry Anderson's "Thunderbirds" revolved around a top-secret, privately funded organization called "International Rescue" that employed a variety of high-tech air-, sea-, and spacecraft to, well, rescue people.  The fifth in the "Thunderbird" series of vehicles was this attractive low-orbit space station from which members of the Tracy family would monitor the earth for distress signals.  The large rectangular docking module accommodated the Thunderbird 3 spacecraft.

Arguably the best of Bandai's "Thunderbirds" models, this was actually a dual kit with a mini Thunderbird 3 that held itself to the model's Earth-like base via a magnet.  The Thunderbird 5 was released in the 1970s, then again by Imai (now defunct) in the late 1990s.

This model is an original 1970s Bandai issue..
